Specialist at SDSU!San Diego State University (SDSU) is looking for
a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to
join our dynamic team.Key Responsibilities:
- Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Safety: Conduct water
intrusion/mold assessments, indoor air quality evaluations, and
manage asbestos, lead, and crystalline silica programs.
- Exposure Monitoring: Oversee chemical and noise exposure
assessments to ensure a safe campus environment.
- Program Support: Assist with medical surveillance, safety
training, job hazard assessments, workshop safety inspections, and
personal protective equipment management.
- Policy Development: Work closely with EH&S staff to develop
and implement policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Compliance Assurance: Help assess and ensure campus compliance
with federal, state, and local health and safety
regulations.Position Information:
- Full-time, at-will role, offering comprehensive benefits.
- Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible
for overtime compensation.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU
in San Diego.Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety,
Environmental Health or Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering
or STEM related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience in industrial hygiene,
environmental control, occupational safety, or other general health
and safety disciplines.Key Qualifications:
- Experience performing industrial hygiene evaluations, indoor
air quality, mold and asbestos evaluations, and personal protective
equipment recommendations.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
including but not limited to Cal/OSHA CCR Title 8 Regulations and
OSHA CFR Title 29 Part 1910.Licenses and Certifications:May be
obtained within one year of employment:
- Certifications that include training in exposure assessments,
hazard assessments, and occupational safety.Compensation and
