innovative software.About the role:The Becton Dickinson Software
Technology Solutions Division (STS) seeks a hands-on Sr.
Engineering Manager focused on building and maintaining a Clinical
Interface Engine. This position requires an enthusiastic leader
with a rare mix of intelligence, integrity, and technical skill
that allows you to focus on building a team through mentoring,
coaching, hiring, and solving challenging technical problems. This
highly collaborative position will partner with and advise multiple
teams by guiding the creation and consumption of clinical
data.Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of a scalable,
high-performance Health data interface engine.
- Create clear and well-thought-out technical design artifacts
with careful considerations of system dependencies, failure states,
maintainability, testability, and ease of support.
- Partner with the Architecture, PM, DevOps, and cross-functional
stakeholders to guide the articulation and execution of the
strategic roadmap of the team and its alignment with the vision of
overall program.
- Develop and implement performance metrics to monitor and
improve the effectiveness and efficiency of high volume HL7 v2
interfaces.
- Apply software engineering best practices (version control,
continuous integration, etc) spanning the entire code base.
- Work with program management to establish key delivery
milestones and manage engineering risks that may adversely impact
the program.
- Facilitates decisions on the scope of work, duration of tasks,
and determination of design requirements.
- Attracts, develops, and retains BD associates.
- Work in a collaborative environment to ensure a shared
understanding of complex topics.
- Contribute to and lead process improvement initiatives across
the entire department.Experience Required
- 10+ years of experience in working on Health Technology
Environment, with a proven track record of success in developing
and maintaining scalable, high-volume data interfaces with 3+ years
working in a Cloud environment.
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience leading teams and managing
direct reports.
- Strong knowledge of industry leading HL7 interface engineers
such as Iguana, Intersystem.
- Experience with design and development experience with HL7
FHIR, HL7 CDA, and HL7 v2.
- Hands-on experience working with AWS and serverless
technologies.
- Experience leading change in modern software development
practices and continuous delivery.
- Designing system with observability to identify and respond to
anomalies, failures, degradation of performance.
- Strong understanding of cloud system's architecture and
design.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a
demonstrated ability to motivate and develop high-performing
teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability
to distill complex issues into actionable plans.
- Experience with programming languages (Golang, Python,
Java)
- Experience with Agile methodologies and implementing DevOps
practices.
- Demonstrated positive work ethic with a strong commitment to
achieving project goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with
the ability to present complex information clearly to both
