Summary:We are looking for a Senior Software Program Manager to
lead the next generation of IOT Software and solutions on Linux
Ubuntu platforms. IOT chipsets and software are used in a variety
of new use cases in the Industrial, Retail, Robotics, Energy, and a
multitude of other segments.As the Software Program Manager, you
will be working with engineering, business, and operations teams to
establish the plan of record for the Ubuntu software products.As a
team leader in the group, you will be working on abstract problems
in variable situations that typically require complex analysis. An
understanding of IOT use cases and requirements is preferred.
Experience with Linux Ubuntu development environment and frameworks
is highly desired for this role.The responsibilities of this role
include:
- Working independently with no supervision
- Plan of record
- Establish plan of record (POR) for the SW program from initial
business case through final software product commercialization,
working with the global engineering, Product Management, and
Business Development teams.
- Execution
- Own all the SW program management aspects: top-down scope/cost
estimation, establishing plan of record commitments, execution of
the SW plan thru commercialization, and post commercialization
support.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop program goals, set
the prioritization of deliverables, ensure appropriate business
processes are followed (e.g., program change management,
communication) and drive decisions necessary for on time
delivery.
- Managing risk is a key component of the responsibility:
continuous risk assessment, identifying risks and identifying a
mitigation plan that does not impact schedule or cost over
runs.
- Chair the Ubuntu SW product meetings as coordinated with IOT
Target Program Management colleagues.
- Manages and takes responsibility for the SW program by applying
up-to-date and innovative program management best practices.
- Fully owns all key program metrics, including updating them as
needed based on technical, roadmap and organizational needs;
influences the priorities of teams as necessary, and applies
appropriate leadership style to overcome both technical and
organizational challenges.
- Communication and Influencing
- Influence key program level decisions which require strong
negotiation and influence.
- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex
and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with
differing knowledge levels.
- Provide transparent status on a regular cadence to the IOT BU
execs.
- Promote program vision and objectives within the team and
management, gaining buy-in from stakeholders. Ensure program
objectives are met or exceeded.
- Promote adoption of processes by applying best practices and
identifying and executing process improvement initiatives across
the core team and PMO.This is an office based position in San
Diego, CA and is expected to work in accordance with Qualcomm's
Onsite Work Policy.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related
field.
- 4+ years of Program Management or related work
experience.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related
field.
- PMP Certification.
- 7+ years of Program Management or related work experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction
with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
- 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed
organization.
- 2+ years of experience with program management tools such as
dashboards, Gantt charts, etc.Pay range and Other Compensation &
Benefits:$154,400.00 - $231,600.00The above pay scale reflects the
broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the
location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly,
please note that salary is only one component of total compensation
