• Investigate, adjust, and settle the most difficult, complex, and sensitive bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage claims filed against the City.
• Evaluate property damage and bodily injuries; estimate settlement value.
• Review accident and injury reports; interview and correspond with claimants, witnesses, physicians, and attorneys.
• Approve or recommend denial of claims; negotiate settlements.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports.
• Represent the City in small claims actions, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Lead the work of other professional public liability claims representatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Experience: Three years of full-time professional experience in the investigation, adjustment, and settlement of general and/or automobile liability claims involving bodily injury and property damage, which MUST include at least two years of full-time experience handling claims covered by California Law. Qualifying professional experience MUST include the authority for approval of settlements and denial of claims.License: A valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of hire.Highly Desirable: Experience in Loss Recovery, Subrogation, and/or Collections; including first-party property claims.
