location)Position SummarySan Diego State University is seeking a
passionate and dedicated Admissions Counselor to join our Student
Recruitment and School Relations team. In this role, you'll play a
vital part in guiding prospective students and their families
through the admissions process, representing SDSU at schools and
events, and building positive relationships with educational

Responsibilities:
- Student Recruitment: Schedule and carry out strategic
admissions activities, including presentations, application
workshops, college fairs, and other recruiting events on and off
campus, as well as virtually.
- Advising and Outreach: Advise prospective students, families,
and the campus community on admissions requirements, the CSU
application process, and available campus resources while building
strong relationships with high school and community college
counselors and educational partners.
- Event Coordination: Assist in the planning of campus visitation
programs such as campus tours, preview programs, open houses, and
counselor events, collaborating with SDSU and CSU faculty, staff,
and students on recruitment initiatives.
- Scholarship Support: Serve on scholarship committees to assist
in awarding funds to new SDSU students and support related

- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible,
permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not
eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. (Ability to work
varied hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel for
recruitment events, including visiting high schools and community
colleges to speak with prospective students.)
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU
in San Diego.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from
a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral
sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has
acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown
below may be substituted for the required education on a
year-for-year basis.Possession of the required knowledge and
abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two
years of professional experience in one of the student services
program areas or in a related field; experience should give
evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further
growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted
for one year of the professional experience.Key Qualifications
- Experience conducting small and large-scale group
presentations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
and various software programs, including CRM systems, document
management tools, and virtual communication platforms.
- Knowledge of CSU/SDSU enrollment requirements and
university-level departments and student services, including
Enrollment, Financial Aid, Housing, Educational Opportunity
Program, and Student Life preferred.
- Knowledge of California State University admissions
requirements and policies, with experience working in an admissions
office preferred.License and CertificationValid California Driver's
License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of
hire.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment is
not expected to exceed $5,083 per month.Salary placement is
determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the
candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring
department's fiscal resources.San Diego State University offers a
rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total
compensation.CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 - $7,228 per
