academic mission requirements.We currently have an exciting
opportunity for a Ground System Architecture working on satellite
systems to support our team located in Englewood, CO.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program leadership team member responsible for technical
leadership of the engineering team in the space system, ground
systems, satellite development, and integration and test.
- Vision for common ground approach across missions.
- Ownership of Ground Roadmap, determines annual and multi-year
technical objectives for designated engineering systems or
project(s)/program(s).
- Strategic and Tactical prioritization across program
coordinating Ground Technical capabilities
- Identify capabilities that can be common,
- Coordinate which program needs these common capabilities.
- Platform Architecture Design.
- Network Architecture Design.
- Software Architecture Design.
- Provides accountability for technical risk, conduct of
technical reviews, system modeling and simulation, system
performance, system architecture and trade studies.
- Leads the integration of the ground system solution within the
overall engineering environment; and ensures that appropriate
documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are
completed.
- Perform mission and system design on missions from bid
generation through launch and operations.
- Represents the ground systems on project(s)/program(s) as a
prime subject matter expert.
- Act as expert consultant and advisor for ground system design
engineering.
- Advises or directs the activities of assigned
project(s)/program(s) to achieve technical objectives.
- Directs and allocates technical resources and professional
staff to achieve objectives.
- Develops new and/or expands existing business
opportunities.
- Ensures compliance, reporting, and safety standards are
maintained.
- Participates in the planning, selection, retention, and
development of the professional staff.
- Publishes and presents technical papers and abstracts and
participates in internal and external technical program
reviews.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive
information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD
in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited
institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine
or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, seven or more
years of experience with a master's degree, or four or more years
with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in
lieu of education.
- Active and current TS/SCI clearance required.
- Must have at least 8 years of space systems design
experience.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in leading technical
teams.
- Experience includes full Systems Engineering, Architecture and
SW development lifecycles (SDLC).
- Manages projects to ensure proper use of SDLC techniques
including requirement development, design, Agile/DEVSECOPS/CI/CD,
QA/testing, documentation and end-user training.
- Domain expertise in Satellite Command and Control, Mission
Planning and Scheduling, Satellite Imaging systems, Space
Situational Awareness, Network Management, AWS Cloud Computing,
Object Oriented and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA),
Distributed Computing/Virtualization and its application in
Multi-Level Cyber Security (RMF, NIST 800-53, 800-171, PKI)
Environments, Model Based Systems Engineering/Architecture
(MBSE/A), Cameo.
- Design and development of large-scale cloud-based systems and
applications.
- Experience in the design and development of
multi-threading.
- Experience in multiple software languages, python, C/C++, Java
are desirable.
- Design and development of cloud technology: Containers, VMWare,
Docker, Podman, AWS, AWS EKS.
- Perform network bandwidth analysis to define network hardware
specifications.
- Perform system capability decomposition into JIRA EPIC/Stories
including definition and management of Acceptance Criteria.
- Experience/knowledge of Open C3 Cosmos.
- Grafana dashboards.
- Experience/Knowledge of Spacecraft command/telemetry
uplink/downlink path engineering and design including Ground
networking, RF communications and NSA Type-1 encryption
approaches.
- Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and
application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and
practice as well as project and/or program leadership including
organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to
meet established project deadlines or milestones.
- Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of
new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical
problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be
a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other
departments, all levels of management, professional and support
staff, customers, potential customers, and government
representatives.
- Great interpersonal skills working in a team environment.
- Demonstrated systems engineering experience in the entire
lifecycle.
- Experience preparing for and presenting at customer
reviews.
- Systems engineering expertise in ICDs, Requirements, CONOPs,
Test, and system integration.Salary:$105,890 - $189,545
