What Radiation Therapy contributes to Cardinal HealthRadiation is a medical specialty that uses radiation to treat cancer and alleviate symptoms, and it can also be used for certain non-cancerous conditions. In this treatment, radiation beams are carefully directed at the cancer from a machine that moves around your body.Radiation Therapy ensures the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to a patient's tumor using a linear accelerator machine. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts, using radiation therapy equipment, according to established practices and standards.This is a full-time opportunity with full benefits including day 1 health insurance coverage, PTO, retirement savings including employer match, and more.ResponsibilitiesAdminister radiation therapy as prescribed by the physician.Verify prescribed treatment dose before each treatment; verify fields to be treated, and angles to be used.Assure placement of protective devices in order to shield otherwise healthy exposed tissue of patients.Simulates patients using simulator, CT scanner or other devices to accurately localize treatment areas.Display professional conduct essential to the well being of the radiation oncology patient.Maintain accurate and detailed treatment chart documentation.Observe the clinical progress of the patient, use clinical decision making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications.Adhere to radiation safety procedure protocol.Perform machine safety checks; know safe limits of equipment operations, and report abnormalities or inconsistencies to the Center Leader.Work closely with the Radiation Oncologist and the therapy team in the preparation of a treatment plan.Adhere to the Radiation Therapist Code of Ethics.Regular attendance and punctuality.Ability to be on call.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.Perform any other functions as required by management.QualificationsARRT Board eligibleARRT Board certified, preferredBS in related field, or equivalent related work experience, preferredGraduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy technologyCertification in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic TechnologistTwo years clinical experience in similar setting, preferredAbility to work a flexible schedule as neededLocationSouth Bay Radiation Oncology959 Lane AveChula Vista, CA 91914What is expected of you and others at this levelApplies basic concepts, principles and technical capabilities to perform routine tasksWorks on projects of limited scope and complexityFollows established procedures to resolve readily identifiable technical problemsWorks under direct supervision and receives detailed instructionsDevelops competence by performing structured work assignmentsAnticipated hourly range: $34.40 per hour - $56.96 per hourBonus eligible: NoBenefits: Cardinal Health offers a wide variety of benefits and programs to support health and well-being.Medical, dental and vision coveragePaid time off planHealth savings account (HSA)401k savings planAccess to wages before pay day with myFlexPayFlexible spending accounts (FSAs)Short- and long-term disability coverageWork-Life resourcesPaid parental leaveHealthy lifestyle programsApplication window anticipated to close: 5/19/2025 *if interested in opportunity, please submit application as soon as possible.The hourly range listed is an estimate.
