SummaryOur client is a leading multifamily commercial construction general contractor located in San Diego, CA (Mission Valley area). They handle projects in various suburban areas around the metropolitan area of San Diego, namely Mission Valley, Hillcrest, North Park, Kensington, and Little Italy, to name a handful. This organization is in complete growth mode and they are in immediate need of an experienced Sr. Superintendent. This individual will be responsible for the smooth functioning of day-to-day field operations to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. This individual will implement project plans and schedules, ensuring safety and quality control, and while delegating work to field staff and subcontractors.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage operations in the field of multiple projects, simultaneously.
  • Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Company's Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels.
  • Ensure project materials are supplied and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program or equivalent.
  • Ensure that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, design drawings, and applicable codes and that Company's high quality standards are maintained and achieved.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive the construction schedule in conjunction with project team; ensure project milestones and completion dates are met. Schedule should be updated daily.
  • Work with project team to issue material and services purchase orders and confirm receipt of materials and return of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory log and handle the distribution of material to Company's employees.
  • Supervise field employees and sub-trades, ensure their work is planned and performed efficiently, and ensure their time/production sheets are accurately coded.
  • Supervise sub-contractors to achieve all required project deliverables.
  • Mentor project team members to contribute to their development and career growth.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project's ongoing progression.
  • Maintain a thorough Superintendent's daily log that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Hold weekly Monday safety meeting and job discussion forum.
  • Manage and perform weekly safety inspections.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports. Reports need to be submitted by the end of day on Friday.
  • Establish credibility among Owners, trade contractors, etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment.
  • Review details with A/E and subcontractors to ensure work is in compliance with document plan.
  • Review vendor drawings and submittals.
  • Create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers and pleasing to our customers.
  • Authorize/approve all supervision personnel transactions (hiring, transfer, wages, etc.), in conjunction with appropriate project managers to ensure proper staffing.
  • Participate in and/or lead project means and method planning, being a catalyst to drive creative thinking and innovative ideas that distinguish a successful operation, developing and utilizing Work Plans to execute the results of the planning.
  • Interface with all work teams in business unit (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives.
  • Mentor construction craft, supervision and engineering staff to ensure individual development and Company's standards are met.Qualifications & Requirements
    • Supportive in a team environment.
    • Think "big picture" and take into account long term implications while constantly analyzing ways to improve performance and product.
    • 8-10 years' experience, minimum.
    • Running ground up multifamily and hotel construction in a supervisory role.
    • Working knowledge of all Trades (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades), and prior experience as a foreman or journeyman.
    • OSHA 10 hour training or equivalent.
    • CPR and First Aid certified.
    • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook).
    • Advanced level in Microsoft Project.
    • Intermediate to advanced level in Procore.
    • Experience in BIM, LEAN and LEED practices a plus.
    • Intermediate to advanced level understanding of digital images (how to open, view, customize and print them).
    • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments.
    • Extreme attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work outside year round in all types of weather conditions.
    • Availability to work extended hours as required by weather conditions or urgent circumstances.
    • Ability to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project.
    • Hearing and visual capabilities to safely handle the hazards encountered in the work environment.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects as encountered in the work environment.
    • Ability to raise, lower and climb various types of ladders.
    • Motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with Company and insurance carrier standards and policies.
    • Uses cellular and electronic mail communication tools effectively to continuously remain within communication range of other company managers.
    • Leadership and motivational skills.
