lending industry.Position SummaryThe Senior Business Intelligence
(BI) Engineer is a key technical position and plays an important
role in the organization by performing a number of activities
related to the company's Information Technology functions. The role
is primarily responsible, under limited supervision, for executing
Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance efforts by managing
consumption platforms, governing enterprise-wide consumption for
consistency and providing BI & Analytics consultation to various
levels of the organization on leveraging available data to gain
actionable insights. Responsibilities include managing and
administering Enterprise-wide BI & Analytics Platforms,
understanding business requirements and translating them into
consumable and governed solutions, from capturing data to designing
KPIs and visualization for different audiences across the
enterprise.Essential Functions
- Partner with IT Infrastructure and Vendor to maintain the
Business Intelligence Application and Platform for enterprise
usage. Follow Best Practices to configure different
environments.
- Establish processes to govern the platform and usage and
rollout across user community for adoption.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including business unit leaders,
Product, Data & Technology teams to assess data, KPIs, and metrics
needs versus readily available, verify its accuracy for business
needs and facilitate reuse and consistency.
- Deliver on data and analytics needs by producing live
dashboards and/or reporting across multiple delivery platforms with
a focus on Self-Service Enablement.
- Analyze Data and KPIs available versus Management asks to
define new metrics for various business operations and strategic
needs e.g. New opportunities, process improvements, and cost
optimizations.
- Maintain metadata and ownership of KPIs, metrics for consistent
usage across the enterprise.
- Analyze data to identify causal relations among data points and
trends over time, calling out outliers and anomalies.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality insights to key
stakeholders by reconciling and validating dashboards and reports
in a timely manner.
- Identify internal process improvements for automating manual
processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure
for greater scalability.
- Maintain access controls to BI and Analytics Platform, Reports,
Dashboards to ensure sensitive information is restricted on a
need-to-know basis.
- Identify and document the Business Continuity Plan/Disaster
Recovery (BCP/DR), and technical requirements for high availability
and recoverability for the analytics platform.
- Contribute to the team of data professionals by using expertise
to answer questions and sharing templates, reusable artifacts with
less experienced teammates, enhancing skillsets and competencies of
team members.
- Participate in stakeholder reviews and design sessions.
- Provide data, reports, and information to management as
needed.
- Identify, track, and monitor trends and avoidable
technology-related errors; work across functions to develop complex
solutions, improvements, and stop-gaps.
- Focus on the continual improvement of policies, procedures, and
processes falling under the scope of authority.
- Use expertise to resolve high-level issues that cannot be
solved by teammates.
- Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and participate in
high-level decisions impacting the direction of Information
Technology function.
- Consistently monitor and model platform usage, database sizes,
compute resources, and third-party costs to ensure that the spend
is as cost-efficient as possible.
- Champion data transformation to new ways of working and
generating insights.
- Drive strong communications, partnerships, and stakeholder
management with senior leaders, functional managers, and
staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, BS in Statistics, Computer Science, Data
Science or related quantitative field is required, along with a
minimum of five to seven years' experience in BI Analyst related
role(s) and at least two of those years spent in a senior technical
level role(s).
- Highly proficient with business intelligence platforms, mainly
Power BI and Tableau.
- Well versed in MS Azure Services related to BI and
Analytics.
- Considered expert in Power BI Administration and Development
with relevant Certifications.
- Highly proficient in configuring and managing enterprise-wide
platforms by adopting Best Practices.
- Highly proficient in designing and rolling out SDLC processes
to govern usage on BI Platforms.
- Highly proficient in concepts and implementation of Data
Governance, Stewardship, and Metadata Management.
- Highly proficient in developing reports, dashboards,
self-service BI, and visualizations.
- Experienced in technical documentation, metadata dictionary,
data validation rules, quality acceptance criteria, software
development lifecycle (SDLC) in Agile and ITILv4 frameworks.
- Expert in SQL and experienced with databases such as AuroraDB,
IBM DB2, MemSQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, or
Snowflake, and NoSQL Databases such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis,
or MongoDB.
- Experience with analyzing structured, semi-structured, and
unstructured data in various popular formats and sourced from
internal core systems as well as 3rd partner providers.
- Experience using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office
or Google G-Suite as well as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft
SharePoint.
- Problem solver with the ability to perform root cause analysis,
guiding the team towards a solution.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven
environment, strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
- Strong detail orientation and highly organized with proven
ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed
management environment.
- Ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate
facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact
of decisions and associated risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus
demonstrate strong leadership capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to
new technologies and techniques.
