Summary:Tests and modifies general systems-level software/hardware,
specialized utility and/or hardware. Interprets wireless
specifications. Designs test plans, scenarios, scripts, or
procedures. Documents systems-level defects, using a bug tracking
system, and report defects to developers. Identifies, analyzes,
troubleshoots, and documents problems with program function,
output, or content. Develops testing programs that assess
effectiveness of a new system or modification of an existing
system.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer
Science, or related field and 8+ years of Systems Test Engineering
or related work experience.
- OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems,
Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Systems Test
Engineering or related work experience.
- OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science,
or related field and 6+ years of Systems Test Engineering or
related work experience.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer
Science or related field.
- 15+ years of Systems Test Engineering or related work
experience.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides support and thought leadership to the team by
researching industry best practices and technical standards with
regard to identifying and understanding systems failure.
- Networks with other departments within Qualcomm to gain
insight, ideas, and connections.
- Oversees verification that proposed solutions to identified
issues accurately address and correct the problem.
- Seeks information from entire project team to help them
identify fundamental patterns/trends related to systems testing
that can create substantial productivity issues.
- Consults with other countries or large project team leaders to
determine how best to address a new or unique problem.
- Makes decisions as it pertains to determining areas of systems
testing that require particular focus with regard to improved
processes in order to create greater efficiency and higher
productivity.
- Reviews high level results issues to provide guidance to team
on best way to address feature issues using specific and
cutting-edge industry knowledge.
- Regularly checks in with team members to ensure that projects
are running on schedule and that the right level and type of
testing is being conducted.
- Engage with other teams (e.g., development teams, tools teams)
to determine if they have any updates on their side to see if any
changes to plans or projects are needed.
- Engages in proactive discussions with colleagues from across
the organization about addressing feature requirements and meeting
client needs.
- Works with high-level representatives from other functions
(e.g., development group, strategy group, customer engineering) to
integrate testing with other components of a larger
initiative.
- Partners with business and engineering peers to solve high
level feature issues.Level of Responsibility:
- Working independently with no supervision.
- Making decisions that are significant in impact, influencing
overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to
meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the
complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and
results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of
time, resources, and funds to correct.
- Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex
and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with
differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and
influence, communication to large groups or high-level
constituents.
- Having a great degree of influence over key organizational
decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that
have substantial impact on the organization).
- Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be
performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing
multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short
or long-term memory.
- Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with
sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and
objectives.
- Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple
approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often
information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and
interpretation skills are required.
- Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area
affecting immediate operations.The responsibilities of this role do

responsibility).Pay range and Other Compensation &
Benefits:$190,000.00 - $285,000.00The above pay scale reflects the
broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the
location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly,
please note that salary is only one component of total compensation
