Job description: About Us:
AMETEK's Programmable Power Business Unit (-$160M) is headquartered
in San Diego, CA and provides the most advanced Power and
Instrumentation solutions for Precision Stimulus, Process Power and
Measurement and Switching applications. We also provide a deep
expertise in Programmable Power, Data Acquisition and Functional
Test applications.
Job Summary:
The Senior Buyer plays a critical role in our manufacturing process
by overseeing the procurement of electronic components, metals,
fabricated parts, and assemblies for our electronic instruments. In
this dynamic, high-mix environment, you will ensure timely delivery
of materials while aligning with our strategic supply chain goals.
Your expertise will directly contribute to our operational
efficiency and cost management.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform complex purchasing activities including pricing, volume
discounts, negotiating terms and long-term contracts with
suppliers, and delivery of goods/services to support build plans
and forecast.
Drive initiatives to reduce inventory levels and lower material
costs.
Negotiate the best terms (price, delivery, and payment terms) with
suppliers, while maintaining efficient output of purchase orders,
to reach the highest quality at the best value.
Collaborate with suppliers to address non-conformance and/or
underperformance issues.
Manage material flow issues proactively to meet business
demands.
Determine optimal supply chain strategy at a tactical level for all
parts.
Establish optimal supplier base working through the Commodity
Managers.
Establish optimal supply chain arrangement for each and every
component requirement.
Interpret MRP output and place purchase orders.
Implement supply chain strategy through Warehousing and Planning at
the part number level of detail.
Respond to daily shortage report.
Purchase order administration and follow-up.
Process supplier returns and replacements.
Assist Accounts Payable in resolving related issues.
Complete tasks and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration,
Logistics or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience executing the tactical and
strategic duties of the Purchasing function in electronics
manufacturing.
Due to the nature of our programs and products, applicants must
have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be
legally authorized to access export-controlled information and
source code.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven track record for executing a visual replenishment (two-bin)
system fed from a bonded inventory at supplier location.
Aptitude in decision making and working with numbers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP; familiarity with Oracle,
Navision, or ManMan is a plus.
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of success.
Ability to create and maintain relationships with key
suppliers.
Excellent communication skills: verbal communication,
presentations, and business writing.
