OverviewThe Executive Director II position is responsible for
administration of the YMCA Branch including fiscal management,
financial development, and overall branch operation in accordance
with policies, procedures, and standards set by the YMCA of San
Diego County.Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations of the YMCA Branch, serving as the
primary staff liaison to the Board of Advisors.
- Ensure a balanced operation, including annual budget
development, monthly budget monitoring, and year-end
forecasts.
- Develop effective board recruitment strategies that represent
the YMCA Branch and provide staff leadership to select board
committees.
- Develop and initiate a Financial Development Plan to augment
program offerings or maintain top-notch facilities, including
Annual Support Campaign, Special Events, Endowment, and Capital
Campaigns.
- Drive growth in overall membership, program offerings, and
community collaborations.
- Supervise and develop branch employees and volunteers
effectively.
- Engage onsite partners to establish partnership alliances,
ensuring ongoing communication and strategic alignment.
- Manage and develop a strong Board and Committee structure for
the YMCA Branch.
- Oversee facility management and maintenance, including
equipment replacement plans.
- Actively participate in the community as the YMCA
representative, building relationships and rapport.
- Promote the Y in the local community by developing strategic
working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and
governmental entities.
- Maintain United States Lifesaving Association and Presidium
Accreditations.
- Ensure maintenance of existing permits in Water Systems, Food
Service, Swimming Pool, and HazMat.
- Effectively relate to diverse groups from all socioeconomic
segments of the community.
- Possess visual, physical, and auditory abilities to act swiftly
in emergency situations.
- Work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA core
values.
- Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or at least 4+ years of equivalent work
experience.
- 5+ years of YMCA Executive Director experience with 2+ years of
managing multi-site operations or an equivalent combination of
experience.
- Multi-Team or Branch Leader Certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of all aspects of operations, including effective
staff supervision and development, successful membership practices,
quality program development and implementation, volunteerism,
financial development, and facility management.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for facility
operations, both internal and external.
- Proven track record for developing and implementing operating
budgets.
- Ability to develop strong, positive relationships with branch
volunteers, business and civic leaders, and provide dynamic
leadership to board, staff, and community.
- Ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment, assess
facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding
day-to-day operational problems and issues.
- Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission and the communities
we serve.
- Licensing, state law, and our government funders require that
staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted prior to
reporting to work, including subsequent arrest notifications.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, including Adult and
Child/Infant, must be obtained within 30 days of hire from one of
the following certifying organizations:
- American Red Cross
- American Heart Association
- American Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified
