dynamic team as a Graduate Evaluator, where you'll play a pivotal
role in guiding master's degree students to success! Under the
guidance of our Coordinator of Graduate Programs and Evaluations,
you'll be the go-to person for ensuring student retention,
graduation, and adherence to degree requirements and university
policies.Key Responsibilities:
- Champion Student Progress: Oversee degree progress, handle
special petitions, and manage graduation processes for a third of
our master's degree students.
- Communicate Effectively: Be the bridge between students,
graduate advisors, and other key stakeholders, providing clear
guidance and support to ensure student success.Position Information
- Full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible,
permanent/probationary position.
- Designated non-exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime
compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. (may vary based on operational needs).
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite
work in San Diego.Department SummaryThe College of Graduate Studies
(CGS) provides leadership, advocacy, financial support, and
coordination for all graduate and post-baccalaureate education at
San Diego State University, including the university's 90+ master's
and 27 doctoral programs. The organization consists of
approximately 12 full-time personnel, led by the Graduate Dean.
Core office functions include degree evaluation and conferral,
administration of graduate student funding, and implementation of
policy of Graduate Council, CSU, and California Ed. Code.Education
and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or
university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper
division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques,
interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically
demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of progressively
responsible professional student services work experience. One year
in the program area to which the applicant is assigned is preferred
but not required.A master's or doctoral degree in information
systems, one of the information sciences, public or business
administration, one of the behavioral sciences, or a directly
related field may be substituted for one year of experience.Key
Qualifications
- Demonstrated problem solving skills - able to bring suggestions
and alternatives to unique/complex situations.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with others;
maintain a cooperative working relationship with all
colleagues.
- Proven ability to present information and communicate ideas
clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are
required.
- Must have a customer-friendly, can-do attitude.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite required.
- Ability to apply professional mentoring skills and implement
policy when working with faculty and staff.
- Knowledge of the unit and campus resources available to
students.
- Experience with degree evaluation software and associated
processes.
- Experience with data entry.
- Experience working in an academic advising position that
required accurate interpretation and effective explanation of
academic policies preferred.
- Experience evaluating students for graduation requirements and
plans of study and relaying appropriate requirements to students
preferred.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment
is not expected to exceed $4,482 per month.Salary placement is
determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the
candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring
department's fiscal resources.San Diego State University offers a

compensation.CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482 - $6,342 per
